Twos: Your Personal Task Manager Powered by AI Suggestions

The main goal of companies developing AI-powered productivity tools is to create solutions that can perform tasks for you. However, some of the early demos we’ve seen have struggled to deliver on that promise.

A to-do list app called Twos is taking a different approach to this issue. When you add a task, it can suggest actions that might be helpful. For example, it might recommend adding a link to a website or help you draft a text to complete a task. The goal is to recommend sites or apps to help you complete your tasks.

To use the AI-powered suggestions feature, simply write down your tasks as usual, and the app’s AI model will check if it can provide a suggestion. For instance, if you write “Buy paper napkins,” you’ll receive suggestions for links to Amazon, Walmart, and eBay with paper napkins as the search terms. If you mention a birthday or anniversary, the app will prompt you to add a reminder to your calendar, send a text to the person, or purchase a gift card for them.

The app currently integrates with 27 apps like Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Instacart, Expedia, Google Search, and more. These integrations cover a wide range of use cases, including shopping, restaurants, music, movies, reminders, and events. While the feature works well in most cases, it currently suggests U.S.-centric services for categories like shopping, ticket purchases, and food delivery. The company will need to improve localization for users outside the country.

One of the challenges for Twos will be to ensure that this feature works reliably so that users can repeatedly utilize the AI suggestions. Only then will the app be able to attract users who currently use apps like Apple Notes and encourage them to switch to Twos.

Twos was founded in 2021 by former Google engineer Parker Klein and Joe Steilberg. The app has over 25,000 active users and is available on the web, Android, and iOS for free. Users can opt to activate “Plus” features for a one-time purchase of $2 per feature, allowing them to add tags and hyperlinks, create a custom home screen, utilize an auto-sorting feature, and access templates.

Last year, the startup introduced an AI assistant to assist with list creation. Similar apps like Hypelist are also using AI models to help users curate recommendation lists.
