Tesla Announces ‘Conditional’ Settlement in Rivian Trade Secrets Lawsuit

Tesla and Rivian appear to have settled a lawsuit filed by Tesla accusing Rivian of poaching employees and stealing trade secrets. According to Bloomberg, Tesla informed a California judge that the two companies have reached a “conditional” settlement and plan to have the lawsuit dismissed by December 24.

The lawsuit, originally filed by Tesla in 2020 and scheduled for trial in March next year, alleged that Rivian was engaging in a concerning pattern of recruiting Tesla employees and persuading them to take confidential information when leaving the company.

In response, Rivian filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming it was an unjustified and malicious attempt to hinder Rivian’s progress and intimidate Tesla employees considering changing jobs.

Neither Tesla nor Rivian has commented on the settlement at this time.
