A study conducted by the Pew Research Center has found that Americans generally hold negative views of tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.
According to the report, while Zuckerberg has been making waves in Silicon Valley with his newfound interest in high fashion, he is actually less popular than Elon Musk, who is widely known as one of President Trump’s closest advisors. The study revealed that 54% of U.S. adults view Musk unfavorably, while a whopping 67% have negative feelings toward Zuckerberg.
Both Musk and Zuckerberg have faced increased scrutiny since the beginning of President Trump’s second term. They were both present at Trump’s inauguration and made contributions to his inauguration fund. Zuckerberg has made changes to Meta’s content moderation policies to restrict fact-checking and action against hate speech. On the other hand, Musk has been involved in government operations, using his connections to make significant budget cuts.

The study also showed that Democrats generally have unfavorable views of Musk, with 85% of Democratic respondents expressing negative opinions. Republicans, on the other hand, tend to view Musk more favorably, with 73% of respondents holding a positive view.
Zuckerberg, on the other hand, is more universally disliked, especially among left-leaning individuals. While 60% of Republicans view him unfavorably, a staggering 76% of Democrats share that sentiment. It seems that despite Zuckerberg’s attempts to appear cool with his gold chains and music aspirations, Americans are not easily swayed.
The Pew study surveyed 5,086 randomly selected U.S. adults from January 27 to February 2, 2025, to capture recent opinions and sentiments.
