Stay Informed on Election Day with Apple’s Latest Widget on Your Lock and Home Screen!

It’s Election Day in the U.S., and you’re probably keeping up with the latest news on which presidential candidate is leading the race. Apple has now launched a Live Activities widget in its Apple News app to provide real-time election updates directly on your iPhone or iPad’s Home Screen and Lock Screen. This widget takes advantage of a feature that allows iOS apps to continually update their widget with new information, rather than showing a static view of data.

To access the Apple News Live Activity in the U.S., simply open the News app and tap on the banner at the top of the page offering live updates. Once you do this, you’ll see a message saying “Live Activity Scheduled,” indicating that you’ll start receiving real-time updates on both your Home Screen and Lock Screen when the event begins.

The widget will show the real-time electoral count updates as they are reported from across the U.S. states. You can also choose to add other traditional Apple News widgets to stay updated on the latest news or the Elections 2024 “topic” from your Home Screen, highlighting top stories.

In addition to the Live Activities widget, the Apple News app features an in-app U.S. Elections hub called “America Votes 2024.” Here, you will find top election news, voting guides, and ways to explore news from specific battleground states like Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and more. You can also delve into full election coverage, including news stories, perspectives, analysis, and reports on campaign issues like the economy, healthcare, immigration, and more.

From this hub, you can stay informed on the Republican, Democratic, and third-party candidates by reading curated stories on each.
