Riverside Secures $30 Million in Series C Funding to Grow Podcast and Video Recording Platform

Podcast recording platform Riverside announced on Monday that it has secured $30 million in Series C funding led by Zeev Ventures, with Seven Seven Six and angel investor Sam Lessin joining in. The company’s goal with this funding is to expand its team and develop solutions for the podcast and content creation space.

Since its establishment in 2020, Riverside has raised a total of $80 million in funding, with Zeev and Seven Seven Six participating in multiple rounds. Notably, the startup also has angel investors like Casey Neistat, Marques Brownlee, Guy Raz, Elad Gil, and Alexander Klöpping.

The $35 million Series B raise occurred in 2022. Nadav Keyson, the founder of Riverside, mentioned that the company’s valuation increased after the Series C funding but did not disclose the exact figure.

Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six, personally sought out solutions to aid in podcast recording. He recognized Riverside’s comprehensive nature as a game-changer and highlighted the company’s understanding of creator pain points. According to Ohanian, Riverside offers an all-in-one solution that is incredibly user-friendly.

Initially established as a podcast recording platform during the pandemic, Riverside focused on enabling participants in different locations to record separate audio tracks with automatic backups. The platform recently launched iOS and iPad apps for high-definition podcast recording on the go, along with a new design that consolidates recording, editing, and sharing tools in one place.

The latest editor features AI transcription, support for over 100 languages, separate audio and video tracks, and automatic clip creation for sharing memorable moments on social platforms. Riverside also introduced an AI-powered editing feature to edit or remove text in the transcript accordingly.

Spotify recently expanded its partnership with Riverside to provide podcast recording and editing tools to its creators directly through the browser window. Besides catering to podcast recording, Riverside now offers tools for live-streaming, including support for various stream destinations and personalized branding.

Looking ahead, Riverside aims to evolve into a comprehensive platform for video content creation beyond podcast recording. With a vision to simplify video editing processes, the company plans to invest in AI features to enhance workflows. Keyson, the founder, emphasized that Riverside currently has around 160-170 employees and intends to utilize the funding to recruit AI and full-stack engineers, with the goal of achieving profitability by the end of 2026.
