Meta plans to continue its fact-checking program outside the U.S. for now, with potential expansion in the future. The company, which owns Facebook and Instagram, introduced these measures to combat misinformation on its platforms. Recently, Meta announced it would switch to a community notes system, similar to how Elon Musk’s X operates.

According to Meta’s head of global business, Nicola Mendelsohn, the company will monitor the progress of this new system throughout the year. While changes are underway in the U.S., operations will remain the same in other countries where Meta collaborates with fact-checkers.
However, implementing these changes globally may prove challenging, especially in regions like Europe with strict regulations such as the Digital Services Act (DSA) aimed at preventing the spread of misleading content.
