John Deere Unveils Game-Changing Robot Lawnmower to Revolutionize Landscaping Industry

John Deere has unveiled a range of new products at CES 2025, including an electric robot lawnmower designed for commercial-grade landscaping. This mower is powered by a 21.4 kWh battery, which is about a quarter of the size of a typical electric car battery, and can operate for up to 10 hours. Equipped with four pairs of stereo cameras, two on each side, the mower has a 360-degree view.

Due to its electric operation, the mower is much quieter than traditional gas-powered models, allowing for work to start earlier in the day. While John Deere acknowledges that the mower could potentially replace human labor, the company emphasizes the benefits in addressing the challenge of available skilled labor. John Deere’s chief technology officer, Jahmy Hindman, highlighted the potential for autonomy to help meet the demands of agriculture, construction, and commercial landscaping tasks.

In addition to the robot mower, John Deere’s CES 2025 announcements focus on autonomy on a larger scale. This includes an autonomous 5ML orchard tractor for crop spraying and a 9RX tractor for tilling fields, equipped with a 16-camera array. The company also showcased an autonomous articulated dump truck designed for quarry operations, with the new 460 P-Tier dump truck being the latest addition.

These advancements in autonomous technology aim to revolutionize the industry and streamline important yet often overlooked tasks. While these products may replace or assist human labor, it is the robot lawnmower that is most likely to become a familiar sight in the near future. The exact timing for its release has not been disclosed by John Deere representatives.
