Apple launched a fresh app called “Invites” on Tuesday, giving users the power to craft personalized invitations for any event. With Invites, users can easily create and share invitations on their iPhone, RSVP, contribute to Shared Albums, and curate event playlists.

To create an invitation, an iCloud+ subscription is necessary. Nevertheless, anyone can RSVP, regardless of whether they own an Apple Account or Apple device.

This release signifies Apple’s most recent instance of “Sherlocking” a service, essentially introducing a new feature or app that mirrors the functionality of an already popular third-party app.

When making an invitation using Apple Invites, users can choose a photo from their collection or opt for one from the app’s gallery. The app links with Maps and Weather to provide guests with directions to the event and inform them about the forecast on that day.

Participants can share photos and videos to a designated Shared Album within each invitation to safeguard their memories and relive the event later on. A collaborative playlist feature enables Apple Music subscribers to create a playlist for the event that guests can easily access from the invite.

In addition, users have the option to design distinctive event invitations using Apple’s Image Playground to generate original images and leverage Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools to craft the invitations.

Hosts can supervise and handle their events, share invitations via a link, and review RSVPs. They can choose which details to display in an invite preview, such as the event background or a home address.

On the other hand, guests can view and reply to an invitation via the app or website. Attendees can manage how their information appears to others and can choose to leave or report events.

Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, Brent Chiu-Watson, stated in a press release, “With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together. Apple Invites combines capabilities our users already adore across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, making special event planning a breeze.”

Apple Invites is up for grabs for free on the App Store for all iPhone models with iOS 18 or later and accessible on the web at icloud.com/invites.
