Intel’s EVP and chief commercial officer, Christoph Schell, is stepping down from his position after two years, as reported in a filing with the SEC. Schell informed Intel of his decision to leave on Monday and will officially resign on June 30 to pursue a new career opportunity.
The replacement for Schell has not been announced yet. Greg Ernst, CVP of Intel’s sales and marketing division, will serve as the interim leader, according to a spokesperson. Reflecting on Schell’s contributions, the spokesperson expressed gratitude for his dedication to customers and wished him success in his future endeavors.

During his tenure at Intel, Schell oversaw sales, marketing, and communications, reporting directly to the office of the CEO. He joined the company in February 2022, bringing with him experience from roles at HP, Philips, and Procter & Gamble. His departure coincides with Intel’s significant transformation under the leadership of CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who has initiated changes such as reorganizing divisions, selling stakes in the Altera semiconductor business, and restructuring the executive team. The company also recently appointed a new AI chief and announced plans for workforce reductions.
In a recent announcement, Tan mandated a return to four days in the office for all employees, discontinuing hybrid and remote work options. Additionally, plans to spin off Intel Capital, the corporate VC arm, have been canceled.
