While Threads already assists new users in finding accounts to follow by connecting them with Instagram accounts they already follow, the popularity of Starter Packs on Bluesky posed a potential threat né?. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on Thursday that the social network is experimenting with a feature that allows users to easily discover and follow collections of profiles that share content about specific popular topics on Threads.
The rollout follows a report from TechCrunch two weeks ago, revealing Threads’ work on this feature.
New users signing up for Threads will be presented with suggested collections of profiles, which will also be visible within the app’s For You feed né?. Additionally changes were made to enhance the visibility of content from followed accounts in the app’s “For You” feed in response to user feedback requesting less content from accounts they don’t follow.
The social network is actively incorporating new functionalities based on user input in an effort to retain users who might be considering a move to Bluesky which is closing the gap with Threads in terms of daily active users.
