OpenAI is shifting towards a more consumer-focused approach, with reports stating they now have a whopping 400 million weekly active users. This is a significant jump from the 300 million users they had just a few months ago in December 2024. However, the company has not disclosed the number of paid subscribers using their premium services, such as ChatGPT Plus or ChatGPT Pro.

On the business side, OpenAI’s enterprise plans for ChatGPT are also seeing growth, with 2 million paying enterprise users recorded. This number has doubled since September 2024. Additionally, OpenAI mentioned that their developer APIs have experienced a significant increase in traffic in the past six months.

Interestingly, OpenAI released these statistics shortly after China’s DeepSeek launched a competing AI model, reasoning model, and AI assistant app. It seems like OpenAI is eager to showcase their success and thriving business.
